Albany is an important manufacturing center for rare metals, food processing, timber, and seed industries. During the city's Victorian Days, Albany was a prosperous river town and home to Oregon's largest group of past architectural styles, including every major style popular in the entire United States since 1850.

Albany is also well-known for having the most diverse collection of historic buildings in the state of Oregon. This collection includes styles from the early 1840's through the late 1920's and is concentrated within an area of approximately one hundred square blocks. Four of Albany's Historic Districts are listed in the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior.

Albany's historic collection also includes everything from the beautiful Queen Annes, the "Painted Ladies" of historic homes to the Craftsman Bungalows that feature a variety of natural materials. Albany is also home to museums, antique shops and over 700 historic buildings. We, at Columbus Greens Estates believe that visiting or living in Albany is an experience rich in pioneer history and much charm.

The Monteith Hackleman and Downtown Commercial Historic Districts offer visitors 350 homes to tour. Touring of the homes will be offered on the last Saturday in July, during Albany's Victorian Days as well as the Christmas Parlour Tour which is held on the third Sunday in December. Included are tours of museums, historic churches and homes, hay wagon rides, refreshments and trolley rides.

There's also the world's largest logging event, the Albany Timber Carnival. Held annually, during the July 4th weekend, this carnival includes novice and championship competitions in log chopping, bucking (sawing), speed climbing, tree topping, birling (log rolling on water), axe throwing, and a queen coronation fireworks.

Wait! There's more...How about Albany's Great Balloon Escape and Wine Festival!
This is a 3 day event and starts each morning with all of the colors of a rainbow at balloon lift. There's also live entertainment, lots of food & crafts, Night Glow Presentation, and wine tasting. If you are a concert goer, or just enjoy listening to live music, there is the River Rhythms concert. Concerts are held each Thursday evening, in July & August and feature nationally known bands, performing on the riverfront.
